Celebrating production achievement

De Nora celebrated the completion of the 100.000th membrane single element cell for ThyssenKrupp Electrolysis

June 3rd – De Nora celebrated the achievement of the production of the 100.000th membrane cell element for ThyssenKrupp Electrolysis GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of plant engineering and construction specialist ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions, in its production plant in Rodenbach (Germany) with all De Nora Deutschland employees and more than 60 guests from ThyssenKrupp Electrolysis.

“We are proud to award a revolutionary invention: the membrane single element cell and a successful business relationship with ThyssenKrupp Electrolysis” said Paolo Dellachà, CEO De Nora “ Since the end of the ‘80s, De Nora has worked successfully with ThyssenKrupp Electrolysis GmbH to implement energy saving and environmentally friendly membrane cells for the use in chlorine alkali electrolysis plants worldwide.”

“Special thanks  - concluded Robert Scannell, general manager De Nora Deutschland -  goes to the employees from all departments, who have developed and produced this product from the beginning with commitment and passion.”

De Nora Deutschland has constantly optimized the production of these elements (anodes and cathode half-shells) up to the laser welded version of today's generation. A length of 8.600 km laser welded seams were manufactured in Rodenbach plant, which corresponds to a distance from Dortmund to Shanghai.

Besides the classic chlorine alkali electrolysis, the membrane cell for HCl electrolysis was developed and successfully established on the world market together with BAYER, UHDENORA and DE NORA within the last few years.
