德克萨斯州辛顿市的设施有望成为世界上技术最先进的钢铁综合厂。

Pittsburgh, PA – June 19 2020 — De Nora has been selected to supply six DE NORA TETRA® DeepBed™ filtration systems to Steel Dynamics, Inc. for their groundbreaking new $1.9B facility being constructed in Sinton, Texas. The innovative new steel mill complex will feature an electric-arc-furnace (EAF) flat roll steel mill and will be the most technologically advanced facility existing in the world today.

“We have great confidence in the selection of the DE NORA TETRA systems,” said Tom Wilcox, Engineering Manager at Steel Dynamics – Southwest – Sinton Division. “We have a history with De Nora, with 15 filtration systems installed in four of our U.S. mills. With nearly every component of the systems manufactured here in the U.S., we have the reassurance of a solid supply chain and an on-time delivery. We plan on serving the growing energy, automotive, construction, and appliance sectors in the Southwest U.S. and Mexico by mid next year, 2021.”

The six DE NORA TETRA systems include 16 DeepBed pressure filters that will treat water in the melt shop, caster, and hot rolling mill areas of the new complex. The 14’-0” diameter vertical filters are pre-piped and pre-wired and feature non-clogging underdrains that separate the backwash air and water within the underdrain. A coarse, mono-media sand used in the filter allows high-solids loading for greater solids capture – oil, grease, and millscale - and deeper solids media bed penetration resulting in longer run times significantly reducing the volume of backwash water generated. A unique standpipe backwash design takes backwash water directly from the effluent pipe, eliminating the cost of backwash pumps and reducing energy consumption.

The new Steel Dynamics facility in Sinton, with a capacity of 3 million short tons per year, is expected to achieve steel grades previously out of reach to thin-slab casting technology. Based on casting capability of up to 84 inches wide and up to a 5.5-inch cast thickness, it will be the world's largest thin-slab facility, capable of producing Advanced High Strength Steel grades, including some energy-sector products not available in the United States today.

“Clean water is crucial to producing high quality steel and the right contact and non-contact cooling water filtrations systems reduce maintenance and improve mill efficiency, resulting in higher product throughput,” said Kris Sticinski, De Nora Sales Director, Disinfection & Filtration. “De Nora has been serving the U.S. steel market for over 60 years and is proud to be a partner of choice with Steel Dynamics and the world’s other top steel mill producers including Nucor Steel, ArcelorMittal, and U.S. Steel. We are thrilled to have been selected as a partner for this innovative, groundbreaking new steel mill complex.”
